TIMEFRAME expected from 11/20/2019, 12:00 AM until 11/21/2019, 11:59 PM (Asia/Dubai). COUNTRY/REGION United Arab Emirates, Dubai, Abu Dhabi

At 09:00 (local time) on Wednesday, November 20, the National Center of Meteorology (NCM) issued red weather warnings (the highest on a three-tier scale) for Wednesday. The NCM warned of reduced visibility in some areas across the UAE, including in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, from 09:00 to 22:00 due to strong winds of up to 45 kph (28 mph) blowing dust and sand. NCM is also forecasting rainfall and rough seas. Stormy conditions are likely to continue through to Thursday, November 21.

Government officials announced the closure of all schools in Abu Dhabi through Wednesday. Business and transportation disruptions are also expected in affected areas.

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, anticipate low visibility and exercise caution when driving, and prepare for business and transportation disruptions. Furthermore, as sand and dust storms may provoke respiratory difficulties, it is advised to limit time spent outdoors.
