As of Friday, November 22, hazardous air quality levels have been recorded in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad, prompting authorities to ask all public and private schools to remain closed. At 18:00 (local time) the air quality index (AQI) reading has reached 252 in Lahore, 222 in Gujranwala, and 160 in Faisalabad. On Thursday, November 21, the AQI reading in Lahore peaked at 598 at around 12:00. Air quality is forecast to slightly improve by Monday, November 25.


An AQI reading of 0-50 is considered good, 51-100 moderate, and 101-200+ unhealthy.


Individuals present in Lahore, Gujranwala, and Faisalabad are advised to monitor the situation, limit outdoor activities until the situation normalizes, and wear N95 rated masks as a protection. Children and those with chronic respiratory illnesses should exercise increased caution. Individuals are advised to seek medical attention if experiencing breathing difficulties or other health concerns.
