Small plane crashes in residential area of Goma (North Kivu province) on November 24; at least 27 dead

At least 27 people were killed when a small propeller plane crashed in Goma (North Kivu province) on Sunday, November 24. The plane, bound for the city of Beni, crashed shortly after takeoff in Goma's Mapendo neighborhood. All 18 people onboard the plane were killed in the incident, including several others on the ground who were struck by debris. As of Sunday evening (local time), the cause of the crash remains unknown.

Lingering disruptions are expected around the crash site over the coming hours.
