Event

The Santa Barbara county Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday, November 27, that evacuation orders north of Foothill Road between Ontare and Gibraltar Road have been lifted. As of Wednesday evening (local time), the fire is 40 percent contained and has burned approximately 4360 acres (1764 hectares) of land. Highway 154 around Cathedral Oaks and Highway 192 to Painted Cave Road are closed to nonresidents to allow for rehabilitation work. Heavy rain on Wednesday doused the blaze but authorities warned of possible flooding and debris flow around the burn area. Additional rain is forecast over the coming days.

A heightened security presence, road closures, and power outages are to be expected in the vicinity of the wildfires and evacuation zones.

Advice

Individuals in Santa Barbara County are advised to monitor developments to the situation, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities (e.g. evacuation notices, road closures), and exercise caution when traveling near the wildfire. Children and those with respiratory illness are advised to limit outdoor activity.
