Typhoon Kammuri continues to strengthen as it moves towards the eastern Philippines on Friday, November 29. According to the Philippine meteorology agency, PAGASA, the typhoon will be named Tisoy after it enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between Saturday, November 30, and Sunday, December 1. Moderate to heavy rains are forecast to start in the Bicol region and Samar province on Monday, December 2, before the storm makes landfall on the following day. Strong winds and heavy rains are also expected from Tuesday, December 3, through Wednesday, December 4, in Central Luzon, Bicol region, southern Luzon, and Metro Manila. Disruptions to maritime travel off the eastern coast may occur in the coming days. Associated flooding and other transportation disruptions are possible.

As of 10:00 (local time) on November 29, Typhoon Kammuri is located at approximately 14.2°N 137.8°E (map here) and is slowly moving northwest. The storm has maximum sustained winds of 140 kph (87 mph) with gusts up to 170 kph (106 mph). According to PAGASA, Kammuri is not expected to intensify into a Super Typhoon but the situation may change in the coming days.

Individuals in the Philippines are advised to monitor local weather reports and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
