Further rallies are expected to take place in Khulna over the coming days, and a strike has been called on Thursday, December 5. Protesters warn the movement could continue if their demands are not met.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are likely in the vicinity of all protests. events. Commercial disruptions are also likely in the coming days. Clashes between security forces and protesters cannot be ruled out.

Jute mill workers have staged demonstrations, strikes, and blockades in recent months to protest late payment of wages, cancellation of public-private ownership, and have called for increased job security.
