An explosion and fire have been reported at a ceramics factory in Khartoum on Tuesday, December 3, leaving at least 23 people dead and some 45 others injured. The fire reportedly ignited after a gas tanker exploded while unloading at the factory. Authorities have launched a rescue operation at the scene of the incident.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected in the affected area over the coming hours.
