DRC: Possible water shortage in Kinshasa from December 24

DR Congo News Alert

DRC’s capital under threat of drinking water supply cuts if government’s bills not paid by December 24

TIMEFRAME expected from 12/24/2019, 12:00 AM until 12/31/2019, 11:59 PM (Africa/Kinshasa). COUNTRY/REGION Kinshasa

Kinshasa's water distribution company's union has warned of drinking water supply cuts in the coming days if the government fails to pay water bills, as well as employee's salaries, by Tuesday, December 24.

DRC's 12 million inhabitant capital Kinshasa is regularly affected by water supply problems and several areas of the city are not linked with water distribution pipelines.

Individuals in Kinshasa are advised to conserve water, stock up on bottled water, keep abreast of the situation via local media outlets, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities (e.g. water rationing measures).
