Several flights to and from Nadi International Airport (NAN) have been rescheduled or canceled on Friday, December 27, and Saturday, December 28, as Tropical Cyclone Sarai intensified into a category two cyclone. Further flight disruption is to be expected across the islands in the coming hours and days.

Authorities have issued a flash flood warning in Fiji's central division, and storm warnings have been extended in Vatulele and Kadavu.

As of 02:00 (local time) on Saturday, December 28, Sarai was located at approximately 18 S 175.5 E and moving south at a speed of 19 kph (12 mph) with winds up to 104.6 kph (65 mph).

Associated flooding, landslides, and transportation disruption is anticipated, as well as disruptions to power and communication services.

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions before setting out, anticipate transportation disruption, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
