A human rights non-governmental organization (NGO) is planning a protest in Famagusta on Tuesday, January 7, in solidarity with a 19-year-old Briton due to stand trial for "public mischief" after police allegedly forced her to withdraw her gang rape claim. Participants plan to meet at the Famagusta District Court at 08:30 (local time).

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected near the protest site.
