Four people killed due to severe weather conditions in the north as of January 6; additional rain forecast in coming days

As of Monday, January 6, at least four people have been killed due to severe weather in Israel. Heavy rains and flooding were reported over the weekend of Friday, January 3, causing transportation disruptions in several regions across the country.

Additional rain is forecast for many parts of the country until at least Monday, January 12. Flooding conditions Transportation disruptions should be expected to continue over the coming several days. 


Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions prior to setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. It is important to note that that walking or driving through floodwaters can be dangerous; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
