Meteorological officials issued a red weather warning on Tuesday, January 14, for the Harz district, where wind gusts of 130 kph (80 mph) are expected. The alert will remain in effect through Wednesday, January 15, at 18:00 (local time). Several orange weather warnings for heavy winds are also in place across Germany, expected to remain in effect in northern regions until 15:00 and in southern areas until at least 20:00.
