Nelson Chamisa, leader of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) opposition party, has called for a State of the Nation address to take place on Tuesday, January 21, in Harare. Initially scheduled to take place on Wednesday, January 15, the event was eventually banned by local authorities. The exact time and venue for the event remains unclear as of Wednesday, January 15.

A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are anticipated near the venue. Clashes between opposition supporters and security forces cannot be ruled out.
