Flight operations may resume at Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC) on Thursday, January 16, following a fire at the terminal the previous day. According to Spanish airport operator AENA, the runway may be reopened at 12:00 (local time) depending on conditions at ALC. However, authorities are planning to meet at 08:00 and may delay reopening the airport if required. Some flights have been diverted to Valencia Airport (VLC) and Murcia-Corvera Airport (RMU). Flight disruptions at ALC, including cancelations, diversions, and delays are expected to continue through Thursday.

A fire broke out on the roof of the terminal at ALC at around 14:30 on Wednesday, January 15, forcing 2000 people to evacuate the airport. Flight operations were suspended until 16:00, causing significant delays and diversions to Murica and Valencia.

Individuals flying via ALC are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate flight delays and cancelations, confirm flight reservations prior to leaving for the airport, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
