Flight operations may resume at Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC) on Thursday, January 16, following a fire at the terminal the previous day. According to Spanish airport operator AENA, the runway may be reopened at 12:00 (local time) depending on conditions at ALC. However, authorities are planning to meet at 08:00 and may delay reopening the airport if required. Some flights have been diverted to Valencia Airport (VLC) and Murcia-Corvera Airport (RMU). Flight disruptions at ALC, including cancelations, diversions, and delays are expected to continue through Thursday.

Context

A fire broke out on the roof of the terminal at ALC at around 14:30 on Wednesday, January 15, forcing 2000 people to evacuate the airport. Flight operations were suspended until 16:00, causing significant delays and diversions to Murica and Valencia.
