Thousands of farmers plan to protest across the country on Friday, January 17, and Saturday, January 18, to denounce proposed agricultural reforms. Berlin will be affected on Friday, where participants plan to block roads across the capital from 11:00 to 19:00 (local time) and then converge on the Victory Column. On Saturday, 17 June street will be closed in both directions where two rallies will be held at 10:00 and 12:30. The authorities encourage travelers to use alternative means of transport during the demonstrations. In Nuremberg, around 5,000 tractors are expected to disrupt traffic around the city center potentially resulting in significant transport disruption.
A heightened security presence and transport disruptions are to be expected on both days.
Similar protests were held in November, where thousands of farmers countrywide, converged on Berlin resulting in significant disruption.
Individuals in Germany, notably Berlin and Nuremberg are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all protests and public gatherings, anticipate transportation disruptions, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
