Civil society groups have called for a demonstration to be held in Niamey on Friday, January 17, in support of the Security and Defense Forces (FDS) and to denounce the foreign military presence in the country. A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected near the protest site. Clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out.
