At least seven people have been reported missing after an avalanche triggered by heavy rain and snowfall swept through the Annapurna circuit on Friday afternoon (local time), January 17. According to government officials, 30 trekkers have been rescued as of Saturday, January 18, and rescue efforts remain ongoing.

Further avalanches, landslides, and power outages are possible in the area over the coming days, as well as associated transportation and business disruptions.
