Militants and security forces exchanged fire in Kulgam (Jammu and Kashmir union territory), resulting in one soldier wounded, per reports issued on Monday, January 27. Police and army units launched the operation after receiving information that militants were likely in the area; security forces launched a search for the militants following the ensuing exchange of fire.

Similar security forces operations and clashes with militants are possible in Jammu and Kashmir union territory over the near term.
