Meteorological officials issued several red and orange weather warnings for strong winds and thunderstorms on Monday, January 27, for most of the southern country. Wind gusts of 130 kph (80 mph) are forecast to affect the region. The alerts will remain in effect through Wednesday, January 29. Additional yellow alerts for icy road conditions are in place in central Germany and are expected to remain in effect until Wednesday.
