Demonstrations by supporters of protest leader and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore are possible in front of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, February 12, amid Sowore's hearing.

A heightened security presence is to be expected in the vicinity of the Federal High Court on Wednesday. Clashes between protesters and security forces are possible.

Sowore was arrested in Lagos in August 2019, ahead of a planned mass protests under the title "#RevolutionNow" to demand greater democracy and governance. He has been charged with treason and money laundering. Sowore was released on December 5, and rearrested 24 hours later.

Individuals in Abuja are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all protests due to the risk of violence, and adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities.

The security environment in Nigeria is complex and is particularly challenging in the northeast and extreme south of the country due to the presence of armed groups, high crime rates, and the risk of kidnapping. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to travel to such areas.
