The Met Office has warned of potential travel disruptions across the country from Saturday, February 15, through Sunday, February 16, ahead of Storm Dennis, which is expected to bring heavy rains and associated flooding. Yellow warnings for strong wind and rain have been issued for the southern half of the country effective on Saturday while a yellow alert for rain will remain in place on Sunday for eastern England. Authorities said that the storm may also lead to power outages and disruptive waves in coastal areas.

The country has recently been hit by Storm Ciara (Sabine), however meteorological authorities have stated that Storm Dennis should not be as disruptive as Ciara.

Related transportation disruptions to land, rail, air, and ferry services, hazardous driving conditions, and power outages are therefore to be expected over the coming hours and days.

Advice

Individuals in areas forecast to be affected by the storm are advised to monitor local weather reports, prepare for transportation disruptions (including road closures and power outages), and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities.
