According to the Kenyan Interior Principal Secretary, thousands of people - including at least ten heads of state - are expected in Kabarak (Nakuru County) to attend the burial ceremony of former President Daniel Arap Moi on Wednesday, February 12. A service, which is open to the public, will be held at Kabarak University, while the final rites will be held privately in Moi's home with close family and heads of state.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are expected in Kabarak during the ceremony.

Daniel Arap Moi came into power in 1978 following the death of President Jomo Kenyatta. He ruled until 2002, when he was constitutionally barred from running for another term.

Individuals in Kenya, particularly in Kabarak, are advised to keep abreast of the situation, respect local customs, refrain from discussing political topics in public or on social media, anticipate heightened security measures and transportation disruptions near associated events, and avoid public gatherings as a precaution.
