Strong winds brought by storm Myriam are affecting southwestern France on Tuesday, March 3. As a result, six orange warnings (the second-highest on a four-tier scale) for wind were issued by meteorological authorities in the Landes, Gers, Haute-Garonne, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées, and Ariège departments. Winds of up to 130 kph (81 mph) are expected inland, while winds of up to 160 kph (99 mph) are forecast in mountainous areas. The warning will come into effect from 12:00 until approximately 20:00 (local time) on Tuesday. Inclement weather could potentially persist until Wednesday, March 4, until around 06:00.
