Event

On Saturday, April 11, Dutch authorities reported that multiple 5G telecommunication sites have been vandalized by arson and other sabotage methods in the past week over fears that the system is responsible for the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Police have yet to apprehend those responsible for the damage; however, they have stated that they are working with the Dutch government's Security and Counter-Terrorism (NCTV) teams to prevent further attacks. Authorities fear that damage to the physical infrastructure could have consequences to the coverage of the telecommunications network.

Context

Medical officials have stated that there is no substantiated evidence that telecommunications can spread COVID-19.
