On Saturday, April 25, around 1000 people were evacuated from areas in Andong (Gyeongsangbuk-do province) due to mountain fires. Approximately 100 hectares (247 acres) of mountain land and four houses were burned; no casualties have been reported so far. Authorities have closed off roads in areas surrounding the fire. Reports suggest that the fire broke out on Friday, April 24; however, strong winds have worsened the flames.
Fire containment measures are ongoing in the area, and overland travel disruption is expected in the coming days.
Individuals in the affected areas are advised to keep abreast of warnings, anticipate transportation and power disruptions, and adhere to any instructions issued by local authorities, notably evacuation orders.
