Floods kill three people and leave four missing in Kiawtaloun village (Luang Prabang province) on April 24; associated disruption possible

Heavy rain caused flooding killed three people in Kiawtaloun village (Luang Prabang province) on Friday, April 24. Search and rescue operations are ongoing to find four people who remain missing following the floods.

Associated transportation disruption is expected in the area following the floods. 


Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions, anticipate transportation and business disruptions, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
