On Monday, April 27, the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) reported that heavy rains and associated floods caused infrastructural damage in East Kalimantan, Bengkulu, and Banten provinces between Wednesday, April 22, and Sunday, April 26. The inclement weather has affected around 2417 people in Rejang Lebong (Bengkulu), Serang (Banten), and Penajam Paser Utara regencies (East Kalimantan) while hundreds of houses were also damaged. The ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA) stated that the ongoing floods are due to a combination of factors including heavy rainfall, tidal waves, and the collapse of water tunnels.
Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions, anticipate transportation and business disruptions, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
