Event

At least four children were killed when an explosive ordnance detonated in Rolpa district on Thursday, April 30. The incident occurred in the Triveni Rural Municipality area as the children were on their way back from the nearby forest. An army bomb disposal team was deployed to the area and a mortar shell was discovered near the site. Some explosive devices remain in the area after a decade long Maoist insurgency from 1996 to 2006, with the Maoists using locations in the sparsely populated Rolpa district as hideouts. Security forces are inspecting the area for further ordnances.

Due to the possibility of the presence of similar explosive devices, individuals are advised to avoid the area.
