Event

Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) has reopened as of Saturday afternoon (local time), May 2, following an earlier security incident that prompted officials to halt all inbound flights. A cargo flight bound for Asia was diverted to ANC on Saturday morning after reports indicated that an explosive device was on board the plane. Police and federal agents conducted a security sweep of the aircraft; it was not made immediately clear whether a bomb was discovered.

Lingering flight disruptions, including cancelations and delays, are possible at ANC in the coming hours.

Advice

Individuals traveling via ANC are advised to prepare for possible flight disruptions (including delays and cancelations) and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
