North Korean troops reportedly fired upon a South Korean border post located on the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) near Cheorwon (Gangwon province) on Sunday, May 3. No injuries or fatalities were reported, and South Korean troops fired two warning shots and issued a warning broadcast.
South Korean authorities have stated that they are using inter-Korean communication lines to prevent escalation; however, further incidents cannot be ruled out.
