Fire torches Abbco Tower in Sharjah on May 5; no casualties immediately reported, avoid the area

A large fire broke out at the Abbco Tower in Sharjah on Tuesday, May 5. Emergency services quickly responded to the fire, which reportedly began at around 21:00 (local time); the flames have since been brought under control. Residents of the tower and the surrounding buildings were evacuated and no casualties were immediately reported. Falling debris from the tower is said to have damaged multiple cars parked near the building.

Emergency services are investigating the cause of the fire as of early Wednesday morning, May 6; significant transportation disruptions are to be expected in the immediate vicinity of the building over the coming hours.
