On Friday, May 8, New Caledonian authorities imposed a nightly curfew in South province for those under the age of 18 as part of a series of measures to reduce crime. According to reports, around 40 percent of break-ins and burglaries are committed by individuals under the age of 18 in the country. Additionally, the sale of alcohol will resume from Monday, June 1.
Individuals in New Caledonia are advised to obey the curfew, adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities, and to monitor the situation.
