A 5.5 magnitude earthquake hit off the coast of Ibaraki prefecture at 08:58 (local time) on Monday, May 11. The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 30 km (18.6 mi). No tsunami warning was issued. No damages or injuries have been reported; aftershocks are possible in the coming hours. 


Individuals in the above areas are advised to evacuate coastal and low-lying areas and adhere to any advice or instructions issued by the local authorities.
