An Iranian army website published a statement stating that a naval exercise in the Gulf of Oman on Sunday, May 10, left 19 sailors dead and injured 15 others in a friendly fire episode. The accident occurred near the Jask Port as an Iranian missile struck a support ship as it was placing practice targets into the sea for the exercise. The number of servicemen onboard was not reported.
