At least two people were wounded on Monday, May 18, after an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated along Russian Road in Kabul's Police District 11 (PD11). According to local sources, the explosion occurred at approximately 14:10 (local time) and imagery showed a vehicle on fire at the roundabout in the vicinity. Local security forces have responded to the incidents; overland disruption is to be expected in the vicinity. Secondary devices are often used as a tactic to target those responding to the initial incident. Further incidents and attacks cannot be ruled out in the near term.

A heightened security presence is to be expected in the affected area over the coming hours.


Individuals in Kabul are advised to avoid the affected area, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
