Unidentified gunmen killed eight civilians and wounded another five after assaulting a mosque in Charikar (Parwan province) on Tuesday evening (local time), May 19. According to local authorities, worshipers had gathered to break their daytime fasting for Ramadan when the gunmen opened fire. The Ministry of Interior confirmed the attack and indicated that the Taliban militant group was responsible. The Taliban later denied responsibility for the incident and blamed Afghan security forces for the attack.
