A magnetically attached improvised explosive device (MAIED) reportedly detonated in the vicinity of Kabul's Chehel Sotun area in Police District 7 (PD7) at approximately 07:50 (local time) on Thursday, May 21. Reports suggest that the target of the attack was a security forces vehicle. Further details were not immediately reported.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected in the affected area over the coming hours.
