Security forces killed one militant during clashes in the vicinity of Saimoh village in Awantipora district (Jammu and Kashmir territory) on Tuesday, June 2. Government forces were carrying out a cordon and search operation in the area when they were fired upon.

Operations are ongoing as of 09:00 (local time), and further engagements between security forces and militants in the Awantipora district, and Jammu and Kashmir territory more generally, are expected over the near term.  


Individuals in Jammu and Kashmir territory are advised to monitor developments, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments. Some foreign governments advise their citizens against travel to parts of Kashmir, notably including areas along the Line of Control (LoC), due to the significant risk of violence.
