Local sources reported an explosion which occurred in Kabul's Wazir Akbar Khan area (Police District 10) at 19:55 (local time) on Tuesday, June 2. Reports suggest that the blast may have been a body-borne improvised explosive device (BBIED) attack that targeted the Wazir Akbar Khan Mosque during evening prayers. Security forces have cordoned off the scene of the explosion.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected in the affected area over the coming hours.
