A courthouse in Nimes was cordoned off on the morning of Friday, June 12, after a person was killed in a firearms incident. The court of appeal building was evacuated after the shooting at around 08:30 (local time) and police have established a cordon around the area whilst they investigate the incident. No other injuries have been reported and the fatality is believed to have been the result of self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Security operations are likely to continue in the area in the near term.
