A man was killed and two others were injured on Friday, June 12, after Nepalese Armed Police Force members opened fire at a crowd in the Nepal-India border district of Sarlahi (province No. 2). Reports indicate that a large crowd attempted to attack security personnel after a smaller group of traders attempting to enter Nepal from the neighbouring Indian city of Sitamarhi (Sitamarhi district; Bihar state) were turned away.
Further clashes in the area are possible in the near term.
Individuals in Nepal are advised to monitor developments and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.
