At least one person has been killed and several others wounded following a blast in Rawalpindi's Saddar area on Friday evening, June 12. The cause of the blast is not clear at this time, although some reports indicate that it may have been the result of an improvised explosive device (IED). The blast occurred at around 20:30 (local time) at the intersection of Hathi Chowk road and Chota Bazar. Security forces are attending the scene and a cordon has been put in place.

Disruptions to overland travel in the vicinity of Saddar should be anticipated in the immediate term, along with a heightened security presence. 


Individuals in Rawalpindi are advised to avoid the affected area, remain vigilant, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
