Local media sources report that a rocket attack took place in the vicinity of Baghdad International Airport (BGW) early in the morning (local time) of Tuesday, June 16. Two rounds of indirect fire reportedly struck in or near the Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center (BDSC), with no casualties currently reported. The attack is the second on the BDSC in eight days, and it follows two consecutive nights of attacks against Camp Taji, north of Baghdad.
Similar attacks targeting US facilities are possible in Iraq over the near term.
Individuals in Baghdad are advised to closely monitor the situation, avoid the affected area, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments. The security environment in Iraq remains complex. Although travel is possible in some areas with proper security protocols in place, other areas should be considered strictly off-limits.
Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to all travel.
