On Thursday, clerics from across Afghanistan reportedly gathered in Kabul to denounce recent attacks on religious scholars and students. Two prior incidents on June 2 and June 12 targeted mosques in Kabul, killing at least six people. The clerics have called for greater protection and action from the government with regards to the security of religious scholars, and other religious figures.
Further incidents involving mosques and other religious sites are possible across Afghanistan over the near term.
The security environment in Afghanistan remains complex. Professional security advice and support should be sought prior to travel.
