IED blast kills at least three people in Ghotki district (Sindh province) on June 19; heightened security presence expected in the area

At least three people, two Sindh Rangers and a civilian, were killed on Friday, June 19, after an improvised explosive device (IED) blast occurred in Ghotki district (Sindh province). Initial reports suggest a security forces vehicle that was parked near a market in the district was targeted. A further five people were wounded and the casualties have been transferred to the local district hospital. Further details surrounding the incident are awaited. No group has claimed immediate responsibility for the blast.

A heightened security presence and disruptions to overland travel are to be expected in the area in the near term.  


Individuals in Ghotki district are advised to avoid the affected area, remain vigilant, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
