The Royal Saudi Air Defence claims to have intercepted three ballistic missiles allegedly fired by Houthi rebels in Yemen, as well as eight Houthi drones, launched towards the capital Riyadh, and the cities of Najran (Najran province) and Jazan (Jizan region) overnight from Monday, 22 June, to Tuesday, June 23. Reportedly, the missiles were fired from the Yemeni city of Sa'dah (Sa'dah province). No causalities were immediately reported and additional details regarding the attacks where not initially released by Saudi officials.

Further cross-border attacks are possible over the near term.

Houthi rebels have claimed several missile attacks targeting Saudi facilities and infrastructure since late May 2019.

Yemen is engaged in a complex and deadly conflict, ongoing since Houthi rebels entered a civil war with the Yemeni government, supported by a Saudi-led coalition, in 2015.
