Event

On Wednesday, June 24, police in Kinshasa dispersed protesters by using tear gas and warning shots. The protesters had gathered in the district of Limete and around the Palais du Peuple (parliament) building to demonstrate against proposed judicial reforms. The demonstrators, many of whom were on motorcycles, attempted to block access to the parliament by burning tires.

Further protests and an increased security presence in Kinshasa are to be expected in the near term. Localized disruption to transportation is likely.
