Security forces kill at least two militants during clashes in Baramulla district (Jammu and Kashmir territory) on June 25; further security operations expected in the near term

Indian security forces killed at least two militants during clashes in the Sopore area of Baramulla district (Jammu and Kashmir territory) on Thursday, June 25. The security forces were fired upon whilst conducting a cordon and search operation in the area early on Thursday morning (local time) after receiving information regarding the presence of militants in the area.

A security operation is ongoing as of 09:30. Mobile internet service disruptions are likely in the area, as well as other disruptions such as checkpoints and roadblocks.

Further security operations and clashes between security forces and militants across Jammu and Kashmir territory are expected over the near term. 


Individuals in Jammu and Kashmir territory are advised to monitor developments, remain vigilant for militant activity, and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities and their home governments.

Some foreign governments advise their citizens against travel to parts of Kashmir, notably including areas along the Line of Control (LoC), due to the significant risk of violence.
