University staff to demonstrate in Lahore (Punjab province) on June 30; avoid all demonstrations

The Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) has called on their members to protest in Lahore (Punjab province) on Tuesday, June 30, against amendments to legislation that would permit the appointment of retired government officials to important positions at public universities. The demonstrations will take place outside the Punjab Assembly, at an as of yet unspecified time.

A heightened security presence and associated transportation disruptions, including road closures and traffic congestion, are to be expected in the vicinity of the demonstration.  


Individuals in Lahore are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all large public gatherings and demonstrations as a precaution, anticipate a heightened security presence and associated transportation and commercial disruptions, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
