A large fire and explosion was reported in the Parchin area, 40km (25 miles) south-east of central Tehran, at around 00:30 (local time) on Friday, June 26. The explosion, which was visible from the capital, occurred close to a major military installation and prompted speculation on social media. However, local officials stated that the blast had been caused by a fire at a gas storage facility outside the camp and was quickly brought under control by firefighters. There were no reported casualties from the incident.
